New Delhi, April 12 -- Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, in a blog post recently said an unidentified individual threw a Molotov cocktail at his residence, prompting him to reflect on the rising intensity of public discourse around artificial intelligence.
A Molotov cocktail is a simple homemade firebomb made using a bottle filled with flammable liquid and a cloth wick. When lit and thrown, it shatters and spreads fire on impact.
He said the incident caused no injuries but highlighted how conversations around AI are becoming increasingly volatile. Altman wrote that he "underestimated how much people would care" and how rhetoric could escalate, linking the attack to a broader climate of heightened tension around AI and its leadership.
