South Africa, Sept. 16 -- Addressing the African Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town, Ramaphosa said the six projects emerged from a rigorous assessment process to standardise project bankability and strengthen investor confidence.

The Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, delivered the president's address on his behalf.

Leading the first wave is the Phelan Green Group electro-sustainable aviation fuel project in Saldanha Bay, which has reached a final investment decision after securing an offtake agreement and a $100m equity commitment.

Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with the first exports of electro-sustainable aviation fuel targeted for the first quarter of 2029.
