India, May 25 -- India's push towards alternative fuels is set to gain momentum as Maruti Suzuki prepares to introduce the country's first flex-fuel vehicle on June 5, 2026, coinciding with World Environment Day. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed the development during a recent event in Nagpur, stating that the upcoming model will support E100 fuel or 100 percent ethanol.

While the automaker has not officially disclosed the model name, industry speculation strongly points towards the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. If that happens, the WagonR could become India's first mass-market car capable of running entirely on ethanol.
