India, Sept. 22 -- Honda has brought the CB500 to India with a 501cc single-cylinder engine, giving buyers another option in a segment that has very few direct alternatives. The CB500 is also one of the only motorcycles in India to use a single-cylinder engine above 500cc, putting it in direct comparison with the BSA Gold Star 650. Priced from Rs 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Honda CB500 enters a space that has been largely empty since Royal Enfield discontinued its 500cc single-cylinder range. In fact, the CB500 and Gold Star 650 are currently the only motorcycles in India with single-cylinder engines displacing more than 500cc, giving this comparison a rather unusual starting point.
