E20 Fuel Row: Government Rejects 'Experiment' Claim on Ethanol Blending
India, July 1 -- The Centre says the Supreme Court hearing concerned ethanol allocation disputes, not the E20 fuel programme, rejecting 'experiment' claims.
The central government has denied reports claiming it described the E20 fuel programme as an experiment before the Supreme Court. In a statement issued on 30 June, the Office of the Attorney General said the reports did not reflect what was submitted during the hearing. The Centre also clarified that the case before the court was related to ethanol allocation for the 2025-26 supply year and not the E20 policy. It added that the nationwide 20 per cent ethanol blending target has already been achieved after testing carried out before the rollout.
