India, Sept. 7 -- BMW India has launched the i5 Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India at an introductory price of Rs 79.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The new electric sedan is the first locally produced BMW electric sedan in the country and will be manufactured at the company's Chennai plant. It gets a longer body and wheelbase than the standard i5, focusing heavily on rear-seat space and ride comfort. The i5 eDrive35L uses an 81.6kWh battery and claims a range of up to 669km on the MIDC cycle.

BMW has also equipped the sedan with rear-axle air suspension, 20-inch M alloy wheels and a long list of connected and driver-assistance features. Deliveries are set to begin immediately.
