India is right: Sanctions will not end the Ukraine war
Bangladesh, Sept. 4 -- The Ukraine war has entered its fifth year, yet the international community remains trapped in a familiar cycle: more sanctions, more economic pressure, more military assistance and, ultimately, more death and destruction.
India is offering a different proposition.
Speaking in Kyiv after talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar delivered a message that deserves far more attention in Western capitals. The conflict, he argued, will not be resolved because a country buys or refuses to buy Russian oil, minerals, metals, fertilizer or other commodities. It will be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy and negotiation.
That is not a refusal to recognize Ukraines...
