Imparting democracy its real meaning
Bangladesh, Sept. 18 -- Today, almost everyone talks of democracy in the world. Regrettably, however, democracy remains largely a fiction. The ideal of democracy - an atmosphere of equality, freedom, fraternity and the rule of reason- is hardly in sight even in the so-called developed democracies in the contemporary world.
Authentic studies show the United States, France, and the United Kingdom resemble some kind of plutocracy or oligarchy. The common people, who are supposed to be sovereign in any democracy, still experience herein deep systemic anxieties, social isolation, and economic distress.
