Stretching just 39 kilometers at its narrowest point and bordered by Iran to the north and Oman and the United Arab Emirates to the south, this narrow waterway has long carried an outsized strategic significance. Nearly one-fifth of the worlds oil supply and a substantial share of global liquefied natural gas (LNG) passes through this corridor every day.
