Bangladesh, Sept. 9 -- Pierre Mirabaud, a former president of the Swiss Bankers Association and one-time partner at Geneva-based private bank Mirabaud & Cie, has been handed a two-year suspended prison sentence after being found guilty of foreign bribery and money laundering in a case involving millions of dollars in payments to a senior Kuwaiti official.

The verdict, delivered by Switzerlands Federal Criminal Court on September 8, brings a major corruption case involving one of the countrys prominent banking figures to a conclusion more than a decade after Swiss authorities began investigating the alleged scheme.
