Bangladesh, March 27 -- A coordinated European law enforcement operation has dealt a significant blow to a sophisticated migrant smuggling network that profited by sending desperate people across the English Channel in dangerously inadequate conditions. The crackdown, led by Europol and Eurojust, revealed a chilling business model in which migrants were provided with flimsy equipment-including tire inner tubes falsely presented as life-saving devices-while criminal organizers pocketed enormous profits.
