EU moves to launch security mission in Lebanon as UNIFIL mandate nears expiry
Bangladesh, Sept. 1 -- The European Union is preparing to establish a new mission aimed at supporting Lebanons Internal Security Forces (ISF), marking a potentially significant expansion of European involvement in the countrys security sector. More than 10 EU member states have indicated their willingness to contribute personnel and resources to the proposed initiative, according to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
Speaking at a press briefing in Brussels on September 1, Kallas said the proposed mission would focus on advising and training Lebanons Internal Security Forces.
