Ethiopia dismantles brutal trafficking network that filmed migrants torture for ransom
Bangladesh, July 24 -- Ethiopian authorities have announced the dismantling of one of the most notorious human trafficking networks operating along the Horn of Africa migration corridor, arresting 17 suspected members of a criminal syndicate accused of exploiting tens of thousands of migrants through kidnapping, torture, and extortion.
According to Ethiopian federal police, the operation targeted a sophisticated trafficking organization that lured vulnerable job seekers with promises of employment in Saudi Arabia before forcing them into a brutal cycle of abuse in Yemen.
