Bangladesh, Aug. 5 -- Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the cybercrime landscape across Africa, enabling criminal networks to operate with greater speed, scale, and sophistication than ever before. According to INTERPOL's African Cyberthreat Assessment Report 2026, AI now plays a role in 55 percent of reported cybercrime incidents across 26 African countries, marking a significant shift in how digital crimes are planned and executed. The findings highlight a troubling evolution from traditional phishing schemes to highly organized, industrialized cybercrime operations that exploit AI to automate attacks, impersonate victims, and evade detection.
