Gangtok, Aug. 24 -- Former Patna High Court Chief Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai has been appointed Chairperson of the Sikkim State Human Rights Commission.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang extended his congratulations and best wishes to Justice Rai, expressing confidence that her judicial experience, wisdom and commitment to public service would strengthen the protection and promotion of human rights across Sikkim.

The Chief Minister described the appointment as a significant example of women's empowerment under the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha government. He said the state government firmly believes that women must receive equal opportunities to lead, serve and contribute meaningfully in positions of responsibility.
