India, April 29 -- WhatsApp has agreed in principle to adopt Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) binding, according to a status report submitted to the Supreme Court by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C)
The company stated that it would comply with the requirements of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, including measures to identify and label artificially generated content, which is often used in video calls linked to so-called "digital arrest" scams.
