India, June 29 -- Vodafone Idea (Vi) continued to record net wireless subscriber additions in May 2026, extending its positive momentum for a fourth consecutive month. However, the latest telecom subscription data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) indicates that the operator's growth was driven entirely by urban markets, with its rural subscriber base declining during the month.

Vi's total wireless subscriber base increased by 121,289 subscribers to 198.66 million at the end of May, up from 198.54 million in April. The overall increase came despite a decline in rural subscribers, highlighting differing growth trends across the operator's urban and rural markets.
