India, June 17 -- Messaging platform Telegram has challenged a temporary restriction imposed by the Indian government ahead of the upcoming National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) re-examination, arguing that the measure disproportionately affects millions of legitimate users while doing little to prevent the spread of leaked content.

The restriction is expected to remain in force until 22 June, following concerns that Telegram channels were used to circulate leaked examination material linked to NEET 2026. The re-examination has been scheduled for 21 June after authorities decided to conduct the test again in response to allegations of paper leaks.
