STL expands decarbonisation drive across fibre manufacturing
India, Aug. 31 -- STL has outlined a series of measures aimed at reducing emissions across its manufacturing operations, including a shift to renewable electricity, the use of green hydrogen in glass manufacturing and changes to its corporate mobility policy.
The company said all four of its manufacturing plants in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, are now sourcing 100% of their electricity from wind and solar power through Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL).
STL expects the transition to result in an approximately 65% reduction in market-based Scope 2 emissions across its optical fibre (OF) and optical fibre cable (OFC) plants.
