India, July 9 -- Broken smartphone screens are influencing replacement cycles in India, with more than half of users reporting that damage to display glass prompted them to buy a new device earlier than they had intended, according to a consumer study commissioned by Corning Incorporated.

The study found that 53% of Indian smartphone users replaced their devices ahead of schedule because of broken glass, highlighting the growing role of durability in purchasing decisions.

Based on an online survey of 1,509 smartphone users across India, the research examined how device damage, repair costs and long-term reliability are shaping consumer preferences across different price segments and usage profiles.
