Skyroot Vikram-1 achieves historic lift-off from Sriharikota
India, July 18 -- India entered a new phase in its commercial space journey on Saturday as Skyroot Aerospace successfully launched Vikram-1, becoming the country's first private company to place payloads into orbit.
The Mission Aagaman launch lifted off from the First Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR), Sriharikota, at 12:05 pm IST, marking the maiden orbital flight of a privately designed, developed and built Indian launch vehicle.
Following a flawless countdown, the 23-metre launch vehicle cleared the launch tower, completed stage separations as planned and successfully injected its payloads into a 450-km Low Earth Orbit at an inclination of 60 degrees, meeting the mission's primary objectives.
