Satellite connectivity expands beyond mobiles with Telenor, Sateliot partnership
India, May 29 -- The telecom sector is gradually expanding its use of satellite communication beyond emergency messaging and mobile phones, with increasing attention now turning to Internet of Things (IoT) devices operating far beyond the reach of traditional mobile networks.
In a partnership announced this week, Telenor IoT, a provider of IoT connectivity services, and Sateliot, a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation based on 5G standards, said they are collaborating to enable seamless connectivity between terrestrial mobile networks and satellite systems for IoT applications.
The partnership aims to allow standard Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) devices to remain connected even in areas with limited or no terrestrial mobile coverage....
