India, April 8 -- Meghalaya has become the third Indian state, after Maharashtra and Gujarat, to formally partner with Starlink, marking a notable development in India's satellite communications (satcom) landscape. The state government has signed a statement of intent with Starlink India to expand connectivity in remote and underserved regions where terrestrial networks remain limited.
The collaboration is expected to accelerate the rollout of satellite-based broadband using low Earth orbit (LEO) technology.
