India, Sept. 25 -- RR Kabel has entered the optical fibre cable (OFC) business through the acquisition of the business undertaking of U M Cables (UMCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Usha Martin, for Rs 77 crore.

The companies executed a Business Transfer Agreement (BTA) on 25 September 2026, following approval of the transaction by RR Kabel's board on 24 September. The transaction is structured as a slump sale on a going-concern basis, with the consideration subject to working capital adjustments and other conditions under the BTA.
