India, May 12 -- As Nvidia expands its ambitions in artificial intelligence, the company is increasingly looking beyond GPUs and into the optical networks that connect them. In early May 2026, Nvidia and Corning announced a long-term partnership under which Nvidia will take an initial USD 500 million equity stake in Corning through warrants.
Corning, widely recognised for inventing low-loss glass fibre, will use the investment and associated commitments to establish three new advanced manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and Texas. The expansion is expected to increase the company's US fibre-optic production capacity roughly tenfold while creating around 3,000 high-skilled manufacturing jobs.
