India, March 31 -- Nokia has released findings from the 13th edition of its annual Mobile Broadband Index (MBiT), pointing to continued growth in India's 5G adoption and data consumption trends. According to the report, monthly 5G data traffic across the country rose by 70 per cent year-on-year to reach 12.9 exabytes (EB) in 2025, accounting for nearly 47 per cent of total mobile broadband traffic.
Average monthly mobile data usage per user exceeded 31 GB in 2025, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 18 per cent over the past five years. The increase is attributed to the expansion of enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and rising demand for data-intensive applications such as AI-driven services, 4K video streaming and cloud gaming.
