Nokia launches multi-PON line card for AI-ready fibre networks
India, Oct. 15 -- Nokia has introduced a multi-generation passive optical network (PON) line card that supports GPON, 10G, 25G and 50G PON technologies across all 16 ports, allowing broadband operators to upgrade fibre access capacity without committing to a single technology generation.
Announced on 12 October 2026, the solution is designed to help operators scale network capacity as artificial intelligence (AI) applications, cloud services and rising upstream traffic increase demand for higher bandwidth, lower latency and more reliable connectivity.
Built on Nokia's Quillion chipset and multi-PON optical modules, the line card allows operators to deploy different PON technologies on the same port and fibre infrastructure. This could r...
