India, Aug. 26 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged India's private sector space companies to expand the use of their technologies across sectors such as agriculture and environmental monitoring, while seeking to position the country as a destination for global space investment and talent.

Modi outlined the priorities during an interaction with the CEOs and founders of 20 space startups at Seva Teerth, according to a government statement.

The companies represented businesses spanning rockets, reusable semi-cryogenic launch vehicles, satellites, avionics, advanced propulsion, space and defence intelligence, orbital-debris removal, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered hyperlocal weather and climate intelligence.
