India, Sept. 3 -- Canadian pension fund La Caisse has acquired a 24% stake in Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust for approximately Rs 12,100 crore, bringing another large institutional investor into one of India's biggest telecom tower platforms.

The transaction, valued at CAD 1.76 billion, has been completed, with Brookfield continuing as Altius' largest investor. Existing shareholders include affiliates of Singapore's GIC and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI).

The investment comes as India's telecom infrastructure market enters a phase in which tower assets are increasingly being viewed as long-term digital infrastructure, supported by continued 4G usage, 5G network expansion and rising data consumption.
