India, April 2 -- India's wireless subscriber base continued to expand in January 2026, with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) data showing gains for Bharti Airtel, BSNL and Reliance Jio, while Vodafone Idea (Vi) recorded further losses.

The total number of wireless subscribers, including mobile and fixed wireless access (FWA), rose by 0.60 per cent month-on-month, increasing from 1,258.77 million at the end of December 2025 to 1,266.34 million at the end of January 2026. The mobile-only subscriber base grew by 0.54 per cent, from 1,244.20 million to 1,250.89 million.

Wireless tele-density in India also improved marginally, rising from 88.41 per cent to 88.87 per cent, including machine-to-machine (M2M) cellular connections....
