India, Sept. 4 -- The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its EOS-05 Earth observation satellite aboard the GSLV-F17 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, at 02:55 IST on Friday.

The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) placed the 2,367-kg spacecraft into its intended Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (Sub-GTO) following lift-off from the Second Launch Pad. The mission marked the 19th flight of the GSLV programme.

EOS-05 is India's first imaging satellite designed to operate from geosynchronous orbit and is intended to provide near-real-time Earth imaging. The spacecraft will operate from an altitude of nearly 36,000 km after reaching its operational orbit.
