India, Sept. 29 -- India's wireless subscriber base increased in August 2026, with Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea (Vi) and state-owned BSNL reporting subscriber gains. MTNL was the only major operator to record a decline, according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) Telecom Subscription Data as of the end of August 2026, released on 28 September.

The total wireless subscriber base, comprising mobile and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) connections, increased from 1,306.27 million at the end of July to 1,312.25 million at the end of August, representing monthly growth of 0.46%.
