India, June 26 -- India's telecom sector continued its growth trajectory in May 2026, with wireless subscriptions increasing by more than 5.5 million and Reliance Jio crossing the 500 million subscriber milestone, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

The country's total wireless subscriber base, including both mobile and fixed wireless access (FWA) connections, reached 1.294 billion at the end of May, up from 1.289 billion a month earlier. Mobile subscriptions alone rose by 5.09 million, reflecting continued demand for connectivity across urban and rural markets.
