India, Oct. 7 -- India's wireless data consumption rose nearly 25% in 2025-26, even as the average revenue earned per gigabyte fell by more than 10%, highlighting the widening gap between data demand and data monetisation across the telecom sector.

According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI)Indian Telecom Services Yearly Performance Indicators 2025-26, released on 5 October, total wireless data usage increased 24.74% year-on-year to 2,85,376 petabytes (PB), up from 2,28,779 PB in 2024-25. Over the same period, average revenue realisation per GB declined 10.59%, from Rs 8.97 to Rs 8.02.
