India, Sept. 29 -- India's push to scale artificial intelligence (AI), cloud and digital infrastructure is running into a shortage of specialised technology talent, with the supply gap reaching 55-60% in cloud and about 53% in generative AI (GenAI), according to TeamLease Digital'sDigital Skills & Salary Primer FY2026-27.

The report, which analyses 37,000 technology and digital roles, finds that only about 16% of IT professionals currently possess AI skills. While around 20 lakh professionals have undergone AI-related upskilling, only about 3 lakh have developed advanced AI capabilities.
