India's 5G FWA hits 13.21 million as rural users take lead
India, Aug. 29 -- India's 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) subscriber base increased to 13.21 million in July 2026, with rural connections slightly outpacing urban subscriptions as fixed wireless recorded the fastest monthly growth among the country's major broadband access segments.
Rural India accounted for 6.64 million 5G FWA connections at the end of July, compared with 6.56 million in urban areas, according to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Rural users represented 50.31% of the 5G FWA base, while urban users accounted for 49.69%.
The overall 5G FWA base rose from 12.94 million in June to 13.21 million in July, adding 2,72,820 subscribers during the month and recording a growth of 2.11%.
