India, Aug. 31 -- The India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) has welcomed the government's notification of Semicon 2.0, a Rs 1,27,500 crore programme aimed at expanding India's semiconductor ecosystem across manufacturing, design, supply chains, research and development, and talent.

ICEA said the scheme is expected to attract investments of around Rs 4 lakh crore and enable semiconductor production worth about Rs 2 lakh crore over its duration.

The association said the second phase of India's semiconductor programme should shift the focus from establishing manufacturing capacity to building capabilities across the wider value chain.
