IAF trainer RFI puts networks at core of combat training
India, Aug. 15 -- The Indian Air Force (IAF) has sought information from aircraft manufacturers for the purchase of 150 Next-Generation Trainer Aircraft (NGTA), starting a procurement process to replace its ageing single-engine, advanced jet trainer (AJT), Hawk Mk-132 and prepare pilots for newer combat jets.
Reports indicate that the IAF has sought responses from global and domestic aerospace vendors by 5 October 2026, with a Request for Proposal tentatively planned for December 2027.
Deliveries are expected to be completed within 60 months of a contract taking effect. The RFI also indicates the IAF's preference for "Buy (Indian) or better", while foreign manufacturers have been asked to indicate the technology transfer and localisatio...
