India, July 3 -- Huawei has announced that it will charge a patent licensing royalty of USD 0.50 per unit for Wi-Fi 7-compliant consumer devices.

The company said the move is intended to provide greater transparency and predictability in the licensing of its Wi-Fi 7 standard-essential patents, while supporting industry adoption through fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) licensing terms.

Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) is the latest generation of Wi-Fi technology, offering higher throughput, lower latency and improved reliability compared with previous standards. It is expected to support emerging applications across AI, cloud computing and other bandwidth-intensive services.
