Gwalior Telecom Zone secures Rs 5,500 crore commitments
India, Aug. 6 -- India's first dedicated Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior has secured cumulative investment commitments of Rs 5,500 crore, as the Centre and Madhya Pradesh government step up efforts to build a domestic manufacturing ecosystem spanning telecom equipment, components, optical fibre and next-generation technologies.
The latest commitments of Rs 2,000 crore were secured at the second Investors' Meet held in Mumbai and jointly chaired by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The fresh proposals are expected to generate nearly 4,000 jobs, taking the zone's projected employment potential to more than 18,000.
