India, June 10 -- Global cyber-attack activity moderated in May 2026 following a sharp increase in April, although underlying trends indicate continued risk for organisations. According to new findings from Check Point Research, organisations recorded an average of 2,055 weekly cyber-attacks during the month, representing a 2% year-on-year increase but a 7% decline compared with April.

Despite the monthly decline in overall attack volumes, ransomware incidents recorded their strongest annual growth rate of 2026, while risks associated with generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) continued to increase across enterprise environments.
