Esri India launches indigenous linux-based GIS platform
India, Sept. 3 -- Esri India has launched GeoSaral, a Linux-based desktop Geographic Information System (GIS) platform aimed at users who require basic mapping, visualisation, querying and editing capabilities without the complexity of advanced GIS tools.
The launch comes as geospatial technologies are being adopted across government, infrastructure, agriculture, utilities, defence, urban development and disaster management. It also marks a move by Esri India to develop a desktop GIS platform locally for users seeking a lighter alternative for routine geospatial tasks.
