Duty relief to support India's electronics manufacturing push
India, July 13 -- India has removed import duties on a range of electronic components and manufacturing equipment used in smartphones, batteries and display assemblies, in a move aimed at strengthening domestic electronics production and reducing input costs for manufacturers.
The exemption removes the existing 7.5% and 5% customs duties on selected components used in wireless charging modules for mobile phones, display assemblies for automotive and medical applications, and machinery and inputs used in lithium-ion cell manufacturing. The benefits will remain in place until 31 March 2029.
