DoT seeks TRAI review of net neutrality rules as 5G evolves
India, Aug. 4 -- The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to review the country's net neutrality framework, as the telecom sector moves towards more advanced 5G network capabilities and increasingly differentiated services.
The reference to TRAI comes at a time when technologies such as network slicing are moving from the laboratory to commercial deployments, raising questions about how far operators can differentiate network performance between users without compromising the principle of non-discriminatory access to the internet.
