India, July 9 -- The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has won the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prize 2026 in the Action Line C6 - Enabling Environment category for its BharatNet-enabled rural service delivery initiative, Samriddh Gram.

The award was presented during the WSIS Forum 2026 in Geneva, recognising the project's use of digital public infrastructure and broadband connectivity to improve access to essential services in rural India.
