India, June 25 -- The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has begun accepting applications for authorisations to provide telecommunication services under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, marking a further step in the implementation of the new regulatory framework.

The move follows the notification of the Telecommunication Rules for Authorisation for Provision of Telecommunication Services under Section 3(1)(a) of the Telecommunications Act, 2023, on 23 June 2026. On the same day, the government also notified the rules governing the migration of existing telecom licences to the new authorisation regime under Section 3(6) of the Act.
