India, June 12 -- For decades, improvements in mobile communications have largely focused on faster speeds, better coverage, and clearer connections. But a recent trial by UK telecom operator Virgin Media O2 suggests the next phase of telecom innovation could be more personal, adapting networks to individual human needs.

The company has completed a proof-of-concept trial of a network-based technology designed to improve phone calls for people with hearing loss.
