India, Oct. 2 -- Constl has completed a 1.6 Tbps optical channel transmission on its live national long-distance (NLD) network, using Ciena's WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e) technology across the Mumbai-Pune corridor.

The transmission makes Constl the first connectivity provider in India to demonstrate a 1.6 Tbps channel over an NLD network, according to the companies. The latest milestone follows a 1 Tbps transmission that Constl and Ciena completed across a 1,450-km Mumbai-Chennai long-haul route in 2025. The move represents a 60% increase in demonstrated channel capacity between the two milestones.
