Connected vehicles gain ground as India's EV market doubles
India, Aug. 29 -- Connected passenger vehicles (PVs) accounted for 43% of India's passenger vehicle market in the second quarter of 2026, up from 34% a year earlier, as telematics, safety applications, digital cockpits, and over-the-air (OTA) capabilities expanded across new vehicles, according to CyberMedia Research (CMR).
CMR's Passenger Vehicle Market Review for Q2 2026 said connected PV volumes grew 60% year-on-year (YoY). Despite the growth, more than 95% of connected vehicles continue to rely on 4G LTE for core telemetry, while 5G penetration remains below 5%, largely confined to luxury variants and flagship electric vehicles (EVs), according to additional insights shared by CMR.
