India, Sept. 21 -- The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has called for a subscriber-centric approach to India's Digital Consent Acquisition (DCA) framework, arguing that consent for commercial communications should be treated as a live and enforceable control rather than a record captured only when permission is initially obtained.

The industry association's statement comes as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) works to strengthen the regulatory framework governing unsolicited commercial communications (UCC), including through its proposed third amendment to the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR), 2018.
